Rufus S. Reed letter to William Lattimore, 1814 January 1.

Consists of one autograph letter signed by Rufus S. Reed to William Lattimore in Detroit giving information about the British burning of Buffalo and instructs him to retreat "if possible." The letter is dated 1 January 1814 from Erie, Pennsylvania, although a note in Reed's hand adds further instructions and explains he is sending the letter at Cleveland. Includes Cleveland stampless cover.
